Introduction to DSLR Photography Workshop

Hello everyone! It is getting to be that time of year again where the weather gets nicer, days get longer, and the temperatures get warmer. This also means it is time for us at Life in Pixels Photography to begin holding workshops on a regular basis again, beginning with our upcoming Introduction to DSLR Workshop on March 17th, 2018 at Colonial Park in Somerset, New Jersey. This workshop is really designed for people who have little to no experience taking their DSLR's off the automatic setting. We aim to have everyone shooting on full Manual by the end of the workshop. You will gain a technical, theoretical, and practical understanding of how a successful image comes together. We will cover topics such as:Choosing your ISO;Choosing an aperture; The effects of different shutter speeds; The proper way to compose an image; Most importantly, you will learn how all these things come together in harmony--through both lecture as well as hands-on instruction. We always like to end with a half-hour question and answer session, to best ensure everyone has a grasp on the material. We also take everyone's email addresses and send digital copies of a detailed overview of all the information we covered, as well as some additional tips and tricks. At Life in Pixels Photography we believe in the value of photography in all shapes and sizes, which is ...

Introduction to DSLR Photography Workshop

It has been months in the making, but our studio is finally finished all of its renovations! We couldn't be more excited to share our new space with you (virtually AND in person)!Prior to the redesign, we sat down and sketched out exactly how we wanted it to look, taking into account multiple factors, including functionality, aesthetics, and comfort. Our goal was to create a warm and inviting space for our clients that didn't feel stuffy, but rather inviting, allowing you to relax and enjoy your session and/or consult. While we don't have the largest studio by any means, we do try to make the best use of the space we have, and we believe that we have accomplished this finally after many long nights planning, plotting, and painting. First, we needed new furniture that clients could sit on comfortably since the majority of our studio work consists of newborn sessions, which can run long, which is why we want to ensure that our clients can relax, enjoy a snack, or even take a nap if they would like. Next, we needed ample room to display our samples, whether it be our table top art, our wall art, or our other unique items that clients can't envision until they hold it in their hands. After we had planned out our furnishings, we had to put an entirely new fresh coat of paint over the eggshell blue that was there when we moved in, so we replaced it with a calming gray that is a ...

A Winter Wonderland Maternity Session Captured by Life in Pixels Photography in Bridgewater, NJ

Introduction to DSLR Photography Workshop

Winter is a season of cold, frigid, and sometimes downright unbearable temperatures. Snuggling up inside by a warm fire with a cozy blanket and a good read may sound like the ideal way to spend a snow day, but to Shanthi and Jay, a snow filled winter oasis was the perfect setting to capture priceless portraits of the end of their journey as a couple and the beginning of their journey into parenthood. Through the Eyes of a ChildShanthi and Jay are awaiting the arrival of their first child, due at the end of January. Not knowing whether or not their new bundle of joy will be a boy or a girl is just increasing the anticipation of the baby's arrival. We recently braved the snow to capture some fun maternity portraits for them and all four of us (well six I guess if you count the baby and Sammy, the dog that rules the home) had the times of our lives.Between the dress up and the snowball fights, sometimes it can be hard to remember this is our job! We loved every second of our session with them and are so looking forward to being able to capture more portraits as their family grows.Shanthi and Jay are so sweet and down to earth and were totally up for anything when it came to our session. We took some sweet photos inside, as we all needed some reprieve from the cold, but we had the absolute best time outdoors playing in the snow. We loved feeling like kids again, embracing ...
