Have you ever wished you were able to capture better portraits of your family and friends? If so, we have just the solution! Life in Pixels will be holding regular workshops to help non-professional photographers learn how to take better pictures. Each workshop will be focused on a specific aspect of photography and will last between two and three hours. Some of our workshops will be for those who know nothing about using a DSLR camera, while other workshops will be more advanced. We will also be holding workshops on occasion designed towards children who express an interest in learning more about photography. The workshop will take place at Duke Island Park in Bridgewater, NJ on July 28th. This month, we are offering a morning workshop, as well as an evening workshop so that more people can attend and so that we can accommodate as many different schedules as possible. At the workshop, we will be covering the very basics of DSLR photography, including the different modes of your camera, as well as the importance of shutter speed, aperture, and ISO. We will be limiting the number of attendees to 10 people so that we can provide each person with the attention they deserve. If we receive interest from more people, we do have additional instructors we can bring in order to accommodate a larger group. The only requirement is a desire to learn and a DSLR camera. Tickets can ...

Intro to DSLR Photography Hosted by AJ Romano at Duke Island Park, Bridgewater NJ

Hello everyone! It is getting to be that time of year again where the weather gets nicer, days get longer, and the temperatures get warmer. This also means it is time for us at Life in Pixels Photography to begin holding workshops on a regular basis again, beginning with our upcoming Introduction to DSLR Workshop on March 17th, 2018 at Colonial Park in Somerset, New Jersey. This workshop is really designed for people who have little to no experience taking their DSLR's off the automatic setting. We aim to have everyone shooting on full Manual by the end of the workshop. You will gain a technical, theoretical, and practical understanding of how a successful image comes together. We will cover topics such as:Choosing your ISO;Choosing an aperture; The effects of different shutter speeds; The proper way to compose an image; Most importantly, you will learn how all these things come together in harmony--through both lecture as well as hands-on instruction. We always like to end with a half-hour question and answer session, to best ensure everyone has a grasp on the material. We also take everyone's email addresses and send digital copies of a detailed overview of all the information we covered, as well as some additional tips and tricks. At Life in Pixels Photography we believe in the value of photography in all shapes and sizes, which is ...

Intro to DSLR Photography Hosted by AJ Romano at Duke Island Park, Bridgewater NJ

Yesterday evening, Sunday, August 13th, Life in Pixels Photography held our first official workshop--an Introduction to DSLR Photography course catered to individuals with varying degrees of experience, but many of which whom had never taken their cameras off the "Automatic" function. It was held at Duke Island Park in Bridgewater, New Jersey and lasted a little over two and a half hours at one of the best times of the day for outdoor photography--in the evening hours between around 5:00pm and 7:30pm, after the sun had already hit its peak for the day.Kathleen and I had a total of eight students, a turnout we were quite happy with. While I am sure none of these students were aware of this fact, it was incredibly flattering to see so many people show up ready and willing to learn from us. Conceptually, DSLR photography is incredibly difficult to understand because each setting on the camera is unique in its own right, while simultaneously being completely and utterly symbiotic. The first hour consisted of a more formal lecture type format, with both Kathleen and I taking the time to explain exactly how DSLR cameras work, as well as delving into the ideas of the settings on every DSLR--ISO, aperture, and shutter speed. We felt it was very important to understand the concepts behind these camera settings, rather than simply showing our students how to use them. The "why" and ...

Intro to DSLR Photography Hosted by AJ Romano at Duke Island Park, Bridgewater NJ

We obviously have a passion for photography or we wouldn't be doing what we do for a living. That being said, we also know that many others enjoy photography, but have no desire to pursue it professionally. This is exactly why we have decided to start offering one on one photography lessons for individuals looking to improve their skills when it comes to basic photographic techniques, advanced photographic techniques, composition, lighting, as well as post production. Our lessons are designed to benefit you whether you would like to just take advantage of one lesson, or sign-up for an on-going basis. The cost of the lessons depends on the complexity of the subject matter, as well as whether you sign up for one lesson, or numerous lessons. Each lesson will last between one and two hours, and you will receive undivided attention, as well as materials to take home relating to the subject matter covered in your lesson. For clients who sign up to work with us on an on-going basis, "homework" assignments will be provided so that you can work on your new skills between lessons. Each session will be taught by one of the talented photographers at our studio, and the photographer assigned to you would depend on the subject you are trying to improve upon. Lighting lessons would be covered by AJ, while post-production lessons would be covered by Kathleen. Any of the lessons focused on ...
